Fred Barron, producer of Caroline in the City, told in one of the interviews where they took the idea for building where Caroline lives.
In the series description it's said that Caroline's appartment is set somewhere in TriBeCa, but according to Fred Baron, the producer of Caroline in the City, the cartoons (used between scenes) shows what 'Caroline's building, at 168 Duane Street, would look like filtered through her vivid imagination'. And actually, as you can see, there is some similarity.

On June 19th, 2026 the director James Burrows, died aged 85. During his long career he won 11 Primetime Emmy Awards and five Directors Guild of America Awards. Apart from directing 21 episodes of Caroline in the City, he was co-creator of Cheers and directed several well-known sitcoms (Taxi, Friends, Wings, Will & Grace, Mike & Molly, Frasier).
